I grew up in a church that used to say this phrase all the time: “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.” It’s one of those phrases you catch onto and you may not fully realize the truth behind it that gets tucked into your heart until later in life. So it was fun to hear Forrest Frank base a song off of this concept.
In this catchy tune, Forrest & Caleb remind us of what the Bible teaches: God is good. HIs goodness is part of His nature; it’s a part of His character. When the Bible talks about God being good it means that God is benevolent and He always does what’s right. You’ve probably lived long enough to realize that life’s circumstances are not always good, but the amazing thing about knowing Jesus is having the assurance that no matter what happens He is always good and works everything that happens–good or bad–for good and for His purposes for those who love Him.
My favorite lyric in this song is “God is good (God is good), all the time (all the time)/If he ain’t (if he ain’t), then you lying.”Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, and forever.” Just like every part of God’s character, He is who He says He is and He doesn’t change–including His goodness.
