Today, our family was remembering the cooking skills of member that we lost a few months back. Happy memories and tears flooded over stories and I wondered out loud if anyone had the recipes of the dishes we were craving.
Most of that cooking was recipe free–put together by love of family surrounded by a meal.
It quickly dawned on me that it wasn’t going to be recreated. And it didn’t need to be.
Some things in life don’t need to be duplicated, or replaced. They can live on their own as unique moments in time that will forever be engraved into our hearts and minds, recalled at random times to put a smile on our face.
If you’ve recently lost someone dear, my heart is with you. Grief is a powerful force, and the void it leaves is undeniable. But don’t rush to fill that space. Let it be. Celebrate that it was shaped by loving hands that cared deeply for you.
