In a cyclical industry where genres come and go, worship has been the hot style of the moment for over a decade. Every week, dozens of new worship songs drop. Stations play the genre 24/7. Worship groups morph into other worship groups that split off into solo worship acts that get together and create new groups.
If worship fatigue is a thing, I’m feeling it.
But worship isn’t meant to get old. In fact, heaven is described in scripture as one big, never-ending worship service—probably without the smoke machines and laser light shows.
So when I heard this lyric in one of my favorite songs on Project right now (“Stars” by Derek Ryan feat. Kurtis Hoppie, Spencer Boliou, Brianna Grace), I had to stop and go, “WHOA! That’s what’s missing!”
What’s the lyric? Check this out…
“My worship is a warship.”
I thought, “When was the last time my worship was that powerful?” and my heart sank.
I am singing to the God of the universe, the creator of the air in my lungs, the one who never leaves me or forsakes me. If I’ve lost the power of worship, I need to find it—and stat.
That’s why I love listening to Project. I can find worship in a KB song, and for KING & COUNTRY can bring me to my knees. Songs from many artists on Project Nation repeatedly take me to a place of worship, and none of those artists or songs would fall into the “worship” category.
Worship music might not be doing it for you right now. That’s ok, and I get it. But that doesn’t mean your worship needs to be diminished, ignored, or silenced. Fight for it, find it, and empower it to overcome whatever you’re facing.
Take your worship into battle, and win the war with God on your side.
In other words… make your worship your war ship. 💪
