I had a dream this week that I feel was for you. And me. All of us really.
Like most dreams, it was a bit awkward, over the top, and filled with allegory, but I knew instantly when I woke that God was speaking a clear message. Pause.
A coworker was asking a group of us to pray. When the boss refused to quit talking to whoever she was sitting next to this person became frustrated. “Fine,” our boss said. “Go ahead.”
Silence. No words. We all just waited for the prayer to begin. The boss became frustrated that her time was being wasted and I joined her in that frustration. “If you’re going to pray, get on with it.”
This coworker leaned over and started to hug me. But not in a weird way. A clingy, almost all-encompassing way. And that’s when I picked her up and chucked her across the room. I woke up.
The message I felt was clear: God is wanting my soul to be quiet, and instead, I’m throwing that invitation across the room in impatience, hurry, and busyness.
Ring true? Probably. We’re the most busy society that has ever lived. Now comes the hard part. To be still enough to figure out…how to be still. Find a minute today and start there. I’m right there with you on that journey.
