We live in a “to-do” list world. How many things can we get done today/this morning/this week? Our society tells us that the more we get done, the more we are accomplished. However, we are then more tired.
I want to challenge you right now to put this one item on your list.
DO NOTHING.
That’s right. Find a time in the day to just literally sit there and do nothing. Focus on your breath. Close your eyes. Put your phone away. Do this for about one minute and you will find that your body immediately relaxes. Do this for five minutes and you will find that your mind will fall at ease. Try this everyday for a week. In your breath, incorporate prayer. Talk to God.
Doing nothing is a health benefit. Jump off the hamster wheel and know that “doing nothing” is something. God created rest and pause for this reason. We are thankful for that! Let’s be grateful for this time where we can practice the silence in the season.
