If you have ever experienced dramatic growth, you know that you had to spend some time being uncomfortable.
For me and my coaching career, I felt that this was needed right now. I recently took a coaching course in Canyon, Texas. To say the least, it was intimidating. I was in the trenches with coaches I don’t know and they were much better coaches than I was. I felt really uncomfortable. To make matters even more challenging, I had to run sessions in front of them. I had to also work and participate in activities with them too. There was a lot of pre-course that I had to complete as well. It was quite the challenge.
One thing that got me through it all was keeping the right perspective: I am here to learn.
If things are too easy, then they are not worthwhile. Coming out of all this, I have learned so much that I can apply to my players, which is the main benefit and why I am doing this in the first place. I am grateful that I received the opportunity. Not many coaches get the chance to do these course. I was blessed to represent Idaho, make some new friends, and expand my network.
When out of your comfort zone, remember to keep the right perspective: What is your goal? What do you hope to achieve? This will keep you grounded.
