KTSY, Project 88.7, KBOI News Channel 2, and Pro Power Clean are uniting together to bring hope to children in crisis.

Imagine how a child feels being removed from their home and walking through the doors of a stranger’s house with often just the clothes they’re wearing. Even if their home life was unsafe, it was all they’ve ever known—and all this change can be really scary. Every day, children in our community are entering foster care—often in the middle of the night, with little to nothing but the clothes on their backs.

There are limited places for them, and families that are ready to help often are receiving children without time to plan or get supplies. Kids with lots of siblings are afraid that they will be separated from their brothers and sisters.

But there’s an opportunity to give hope. The Essentials Project brings a sense of comfort and safety to a child who needs it most. KTSY, Project Nation, and CBS 2 are teaming up with Foster + Heart to collect urgently needed items for children entering care. A donation of new clothing, hygiene items, or a full essentials kit can make a huge difference—letting these kids know they’re not forgotten. Everything is important – from clothes and toiletries to a stuffed animal to hold on to – all of it gives hope to a child.

ABOUT FOSTER + HEART

• Foster + Heart is a local nonprofit that exists to meet the needs of these children and foster families.
• Foster + Heart provides supplies for foster parents and families to make sure that every child is taken care of and feels hope.
• Foster + Heart also has two homes for children entering care so they can stay with their siblings.
• Foster + Heart also operates a hotline to makes sure Foster Families have everything they need.

HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• Come to Walmart on 10 Mile on Thursday, May 1 and bring hope to a child who feels alone
• You can pick out something special for a child,
• OR, shop off the essentials list and build an essentials kit!
• Donate toward a full kit—the average cost is $150
