We just added “Moonlight” by Roy Tosh & Kurtis Hoppie to Project 88.7!
Have you ever felt like you were a lost cause? Like you were too far away from God to come to Him? If you listen to “Moonlight” you’ll realize that’s not true. Roy Tosh shares the story of how he believed he was a lost cause too and was gripped by the weight of this world, but God opened his eyes to see that he wasn’t a lost cause. In fact, he could find meaning through following God.
In the Bible, in Luke 15, Jesus tells a similar story about a son who rejected his father and his family. He ran away from home and wasted his life on wild living. The son comes to his senses one day and realizes he can run back to his father’s house, but he’s only expecting to be taken back as a hired servant. When he finally comes home and recites his apology speech to his dad, the father compassionately welcomes him back as son, not a servant, and even throws a party to celebrate the return of his lost son.
The father in the story is a picture of God the Father and the son is a picture of you and me. Just like that son, if you’ve strayed from God and or never known Him and feel like you’ve done too many bad things for Him to ever accept you, you too can come back to Him. If you give your life to Him by putting your faith in His Son Jesus, you can find purpose in knowing God and living for Him, just like Roy and Kurtis sing about in “Moonlight.”
“…for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.” (Luke 15:24)
