God is close to you, even when you don’t feel Him. Maybe you really needed to hear that today. We all go through seasons when our feelings are struggling to believe what we know in our minds to be true about God and how He is involved in our lives, and we need some encouragement. Lecrae brings that encouragement to us in the lyrics of “Still Here.”
There’s a Bible passage in Psalm 139 that talks about how God deeply knows and cares about each of us and He’s always with us. About midway through that song recorded in the Bible, King David, the writer, recognizes that everything He wrote in the opening verses about how God is with him, knows him, and takes care of him in his everyday life and activities is still true even in moments when he can’t feel God’s presence.
David writes: “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.” (Psalm 139:7-10 NLT)
“Still Here” reminds me of this same truth and I hope it reminds you too. When your life feels like it’s broken apart, when you’re overwhelmed with problems, when you feel like God is distant, He is still there. He is with you. He is guiding, strengthening, supporting, and caring for you even when you can’t feel it. He is working even when you can’t see it. He loves you.
