The Bible often uses the imagery of going from death to life when talking about how we are changed when we put our faith in Jesus. Before we are saved by Jesus, we are spiritually dead and once we are saved we become spiritually alive. When we believe in Jesus and trust Him to forgive our sins, we become a new creation spiritually and we start a new life in Christ.
Bodie captures these biblical truths in such a catchy, clever way with “RIP.” Colossians 3 teaches us that since we have died to our old life and we have been raised to new life in Christ, there are some sinful behaviors we should “take off” and some righteous behaviors we should “put on,” as God works in our lives to help us become more like Him.
